My day started with a head cold and unless my super powers kick in pronto I'm assuming it'll end the same way.
This afternoon I made my way down to the Chesapeake Energy Arena for the Get Motivated Business Seminar. I guess I never thought much about getting motivated, but since I had a ticket to the event I'm starting to think that's exactly what I need to do. Not specifically for work but just a lot of projects and goals I've set. Where do you get your motivation?
My favorite speakers were Lou Holtz, Rudy Guiliani and Laura Bush. I may have had more but we missed the entire morning session. I can't say that I got a sense of motivation from the speakers. However, it sort of brought me back to college days when you'd have those really good professors that allowed your mind to process information differently. I'm one that has to have humor in a speech in order to maintain focus, not the whole speech, just bits and pieces. Some of the other speakers attempted to be funny, but it was as effective as trying to start a fire on a wet log. I get this sense of deceit if I can tell someone is trying to be funny by reading a script and therefore leads all my attention down the drain.
How was every one's Red, White & Pink holiday? Ours was perfect for us. Jon took a mid-week trip down to OKC, got me a really fun purple Orchid type flower, we ate hibachi and he even took off work the following day to spend more time in OKC! I don't think there is ever a reason for anyone to hate this holiday, whether they are single or in a relationship. Candy hearts alone make me like Valentine's Day. Besides it's not Saint Valentine's fault this holiday has heavy romantic connotations; you can thank the poets for that.
Big plans this weekend? I'll be attending my very good friend, David Heath Holt's birthday on Saturday followed by photographing an afternoon wedding on Sunday.
My sweet parents brought me a get-well-Starbuck's drink that I need to enjoy so happy living everyone.
